The Zinc Fairy has been and delivered me the first batch of parts back for the cut away engine. I rebuilt this engine a few years back after finding it rotting away in a garage, alas a couple of year rotting away in my garage has seen it look very shabby. Therefore I have stripped it down and am in the process of doing the job right this time.
Here is the engine after its last rebuild in late 2012
It looked good and was a great job considering this is how it came to me, no shade of any colour was spared!
Anyway here are the parts fresh back from the platers. They have been plated which means I will not need to bother about these bits ever again, next on the list of items to plate are the crank and conrods, most of the gearbox and a few pulleys. The cast Iron parts will need media blasting and I am looking at powder coating them.
I will need to ream out the valve stems the tappet guides but once done the engine will be all black with gold zinc steel parts which I think will work even better than before.
