I popped over to Retropower this morning to drop off the rear boot lid trim, some rear quarter badges and a boot lid badge so the holes can be checked before we go any further. I also dropped off a set of wing mirrors for the front wings. Whilst I was there I watched as the doors and one wings was mounted. The wings are held on with Rivnuts. I did not want the front wings welded on at all as should the worst ever happen it would cost twice as much as the Rivnuts to un-weld a wing and clean all the paint up again, when in reality a few bolts can do the jobs in 5 minutes.
Below one can see the bare inner wing, with a rubber seal ready for the outer wing to be bolted in place.
Here is the wing trial fitted in place bolted up nice and neat.
Here is the head of the Rivnut, a nice stainless steel head that looks professional , clean and unobtrusive.
And with the door re-hung the panel lines are right the gaps are also good.
