Weeping and down
Well I drove up to Manchester for the show on Friday Morning with no issue at all, was comfortable along the M6 to Deon’s. I arrived around 12 midday and we sat down talked cars and awaited the rest of the cars, where we then planned to drive tot he Trafford Centre in convoy.
We left Deons around 2pm and within half a mile I realised things were not working well, the brakes were going softer and softer. By the time we hit the motorway and I saw the sign for the Trafford centre I was down to no brakes other than the handbrake and a small amount of stopping power with the pedal pumped lots of time.
We arrived at the show and the cars were pushed onto the stand and polished, a quick look under the cars showed no signed of brake fluid down from the drums or disks, the flexi hoses were also fine. Attention was given to the master cylinder, and the leak was found. It appears the brake fluid was leaking out the union where it bolts into the top of the master cylinder. I nip of this union and a refill of the master cylinder of brake fluid, showed it was still leaking.
Deon had some brake pipe and a flaring tool at home, so the plan was to make up a new brake pipe on the Saturday, fit it and bleed the brakes, if I had brakes all would be sorted if not I have my AA relay cover.
Right Marvin to one side .. the show: not the best I have been to, and done in 40 minutes tops, also were had to be there till 6pm so we got bored!
alas this is the picture that sums up the weekend so far for me yes its the AA 🙁 yes we failed and the car was recovered back home.
