Viva GT: what a year
Last year was the first time the GT had been shown to fellow viva owners, it was not finished, but it was important to make the effort to get it to the 50th anniversary of the Mk1 GT (being thats this is whats it is). It feel like I have not stopped working on it since then.
I thought I would compare where it was in July 2018 to now June 2019. It’s just over a month away till the next Non Billing, I hope to have a running road legal car by then.
the best example of change, is the engine bay. Here it is just before last years event, neat and tidy, no wiring harness, still on carbs, timing driven by round tooth pulleys, no electric ignition, no brakes, no clutch, basically just a bare bay with an engine.
It’s been a long 11 months, Tomorrow I return to work for the first time in 5 weeks. Don’t worry first job is to book a load of time off work, as soon as I get in. In those last 11 months I have:
It has not all been plain sailing, a few CHOD’s have occurred, most I have overcome, some are in progress (water pump for example). The time I have left for getting the car done for the show is limited, but plans are in place. Wish me luck.
