Viva GT: Turning engine, brakes & clutch
A huge hurdle was crossed today, the engine turned over on the starter (plugs out) it was only a few seconds, as the battery was almost flat. The battery is on charge, but it was a special moment to hear the starter crank the engine over with no real issues. Now its turned over a few times (see above) I will be checking the timing belt and pulley positions to make sure all is well there. Hopefully the battery will be charged by morning, in which case I shall proceed to spin it up and get the oil around the block and oil cooler, then top up the oil to the goal capacity of 5+ litres.
Below you can see the air filter is now in place and the heater hoses laid. I am not happy with the heater hoses as I have way to many clips (18 in all) but its good enough for whats to come. Once everything else is sorted I will replace all this with some nice stainless tubing up to some rubber hose (for engine flex) thats neater looking.
In other news I have held off bleeding the brakes and clutch whilst the lids for the filler pots were away being engraved. This afternoon I got this video and image back. With luck they should be here for the weekend / early next week. Thanks as always to those great folks at Retropower
So how does one engrave these one wonders? With a very powerful light!
