Viva GT oil cooler finished
The oil cooler is in place, a few resigns were needed to accommodate the ability of the hose to flex, but everything now sits in place, its all black and is hidden from view when the grille is in place.
Having made up the two oil lines the previous day and after some advice from the supplier over the fittings, I was a little concerned that if these were not right it would make a mess. So I took them over to the suppliers to pressure test and I am happy to report they both passed at 8bar (doubt my oil pressure will go that high?). So it was all steam ahead with fitting everything now the hoses tested.
I had originally positioned the oil cooler right up against the centre stay below the bonnet lock plate, but this would have required the hose out of the oil cooler to turn 90 degrees to go through the pre cut hole in the front panel at too steep an angle (kinks). So I needed to re-location the cooler with the flex of the hoses in mind, hence the extra rivnuts.
I also popped out for a bit and got some alloy plate cut to make the bridge plate which supports the inner edge of the oil cooler (see image above, you can see it under the cooler on the righthand side). Some fiddly nuts and bolts, the hoses and a load of tightening later and hey presto all is well.
On the outside with a grille attached its very hard to see (the plan) that an oil cooler is there.
