Viva GT: New pedal box bushes
Its taken a little longer to make the new bushes for the pedal box, but they are all made and push fitted into the box and arms. This will not wear out like those useless plastic ones!
First I had to obtain some SAE660 Leaded Bronze. The local metal suppliers had some inch and quarter bar and having cut off my right arm for 6 inches of said bar, I returned to the machine shop to discuss with Jim (the owner) how best to proceed.
The problems he had, revolved around his desire for precision engineering to the nearest thou of an inch. The pedals had pressed holes where the old plastic bushes clicked into place. so it has built in flexibility if those holes are not the same size and or alignment. Needless to say I had a call about the holes all being different sizes and slight positional issues, but some extra machine time soon sorted those alignments out.
The two pins that clip into each end of the pivot bar stop them from walking outwards as time goes on, but for added security, a C clip grove has been machine on the thin ends of the top hats.
The arms and bod need a good clean up and repaint (tomorrows task) and I should be ready to reassemble. may have it back in the car for the weekend ready to bled the brakes yet again!
