Viva GT: Front seats
It was some time ago (2014) that I obtained a set of front seats for the GT, out of a MG ZR (Rover 25 in drag) which were comfy and after a clean would of done the trick a treat. However a couple of weekends ago I dragged them out of long term storage from the lock up to find the mice had been living on them for some time. The hunt was on for some replacement seats.
Low and behold yesterday on eBay a nice pair of Alfa Romeo 147 (3 door) leather seats pop up for sale in Preston. The image in the advert looked very promising. The patterning on the seats is of a similar design to the originals as is the colour a close match (not fully black but very dark grey) which I like.
A trip north this Morning at 5am and back for Lunch and I now have these in the kitchen (safer storage than the lockup) ready for when seat fitting comes along.
There is some slight wear on the drivers bolster, minimal, and with some conditioning / a good clean they should be good to go.
The smart thinking behind these seats is down to David in Ireland who has a set of these in his superbly rebuilt blue Firenza Sport SL, already and has remarked on the simplicity of fitting to his HC. His HC is the early floorpan model so its almost the same (not 100%) as the HB floorpan. Looking at the base in the following image I do see the similarity in that and a HC seat. We will see at a later date how easy it proves to be!
