Viva GT Front brake upgrades
Right today I put the new front disks onto the subframe over at the workshop, this will allow it to be fitted to the car and then get on with the engine fit, although a few items like steering rack are still in hand it does enable it to be fitted with wheels and move about as required.
First of all after zinc plating the stub axles the journals were now too big so I had to work them back down to size for the bearings to slip on nice and smoothly.
Once this was done, it was time to ensure the outer races pre fitted to the hubs were clean as a whistle before packing with LM grease
Then fit the bearings loads of grease
Then fit a new oil seal and fit to the stub axle
Pack the dust cap with grease and tap that into place and fit the new disk.
The callipers are from a Mk5 Fiesta and will need a spacer plate making for the carrier to be positions correctly, but here is a basic mock up of the setup.
Small steps as always but forwards is always good.
