Viva GT Coil-pack mount
Today I ticked one more job off the endless list of items to do on the GT, I have mounted the coil-pack and alarm siren into the engine bay. At first I thought I would just use the handy bulkhead shelf that just seems so right to sit items upon.
As anyone who owns a HB will know (and I guess tell you if asked), it’s a rotten place, as soon as you open the bonnet anything upon it (e.g. rain sleet or snow) slides down and onto this shelf. Having the coil-pack with high voltage exposed is just asking for issues. I did consider making a shield, but have instead opted for this solution.
It’s going to mount onto the inner wing, and be raised up on some spacers, so any water on the inner wing will run under it. There is the whole keep it clean and simple under the bonnet thing, I had going for a while. Slowly as I add items, its not as clean as I would have liked, so now its make it look right.
Here is the bracket all mounted up, with marine grade nuts, bolts, washers and some nice spun alloy spacers (thanks Jenvey those left overs came in handy from the fuel injection kit).
Two of the spark plug leads are too long now, will see if I can swap them for shorter, also the general engine wiring loom looks a mess, but they are just plugged in. I will root all the wires neater at a later date.
