VBOA Spring parts day Coventry
Today was the VBOA auto-jumble over in Coventry, and as always i drove over this morning to see if I could find a load of stuff that I need. Unlike previous years I had an agenda today to not spend cash on engine buts as I am not doing them at the minute. Last year I spend a lot of money on engine bits which handy as they were as always held back the work on the GT.
Today I was on the look out for two items and I managed to get one of them, a pair of front engine mounts for a GT Mk1, so at least that’s ticked off the list, last on the list is a pair of top wishbone bushes. But I knew I could sort those elsewhere if I didn’t find them today at the right price.
Was good to catch up with a few folks, and as always too many people to speak to so no quality time with any of them, but that is what Billing is for….
I did have a wander around the car-park half way through the show, to take pictures of the Vivas I could, I did miss one a nice blue HB estate, but then I have seen Adrian’s estate a few times before. One special wee car stuck out as the welcome return of the Light green HA I had seen some 4 years earlier, and its nice to see this is still on the road, and a rolling restoration is taking place. The car has a sound future.
If money had of been no object I think there was a few nice HA panels I would of bought, but seeing as the prices were stupidly high, I know I am safe in the knowledge that they will remain in the owners hands for some years yet. If I need those panels in a few years I will know who to call. I did see soem nice 2000cc engine parts, but as I have gone forward with a 2300 engine for the GT they were pointless, but nice.
Its nice to see so many parts now being manufactured for the Viva, from all the viva clubs and some individuals. I can see each time I go to the spares day a growing awareness and supply of parts (be its still limited in bodywork and still more than one pays for other models, but its a start).
