Vauxhall testing (part two)
So just the other day I started off talking about Testing Vauxhall’s (with my own personal interest in Vivas) But what this has lead to is a small investigation as to Vauxhall’s use of test facilities.
Millbrook (as per yesterdays posts) wasn’t the only place Vauxhall tested it Viva Range. Prior to the existence of the Millbrook site Vauxhall had another test facility very close to the Luton Factory at Chaul End. Its proved very difficult to find information about the site (for once Google has not turned up much information) but I have found one booklet about the site. Loads of interesting images that give clues to the sort of work that was undertaken.
I would be very keen to get copies of the construction pictures I know exist at the Heritage centre, they show lots of the facilities and would help write the story of the site.
Nothing of the old site exists now, the land is now nothing more than a car park, used to store cars from the factory before they are dispatched to dealers.
