TR6 chassis and shell
Wow, it only took a couple of hours, but the body is off the shell of the TR6, so that the underside of the body can be finished off and the rolling parts can be reconditioned. The car is amazing, new tin everywhere, a few odd bits need attention.
First off came the doors, boot and bonnet.
Here we can see the engine bay:
And the passenger compartment:
Finally the boot:
Off come the front wings:
This is the front end without the wings:
Then we removed the rear wings:
Here is the naked body of the TR6 with all the outer panels removed, we had also at this time removed the screen:
After undoing endless bolts, we were finally ready to lift the body off the chassis, which was lighter than I thought, and the two of us successfully lifted and moved it, leaving a bare chassis:
The chassis is new and painted up in some black chassis type paint, it will need touching up but looks to be good, the front and rear axles will need rebuilding at they have only been bolted on finger tight to assist moving the car around.
here is the underside of the body, it will need the rear axle floor section scraping and treating, the tin is good everywhere other than one section on each side (see last image). there are a few bits that need checking to see if they are good to go, but the underside is almost ready to seal seal and prime ready for underseal.
Not bad for two hours work from me, hopefully by the time I stroll out at 7pm tonight the rear floor sections will be sorted and the shell ready to move into the workshop.
