Tappets, Easy I should say so MEH!
Today I thought I would have another try at the tappets, and maybe change a few of the rocker stud nits as they were too loose, there is also a tight as hell nut.
So get the tools out, in the rain I might add (see I am keen!), warm Marvin up for 20 minutes or so till he is red hot, and off with rocker cover and away we go.
AT THIS POINT I AM NOT GOING TO SHOW NEGATIVE WORDS AS I ALWAYS SAID THIS BLOG WAS A POSITIVE ONE, IN THE MEAN TIME I SHALL REPLACE THE WORDS I USED WITH SMILES, THE SIZE OF THE SMILE REPRESENTS THE NUMBER OF SUBSTITUTED NOUNS AND VERBS. (there were a lot)
Why am I smiling because that damn tight nut with a micron of turn did this..
Yes that’s right it broke the rocker stud, so the rest of today has been strip the engine down, to remove the head itself. I have six new rocker studs, but they are 1256cc ones, which have a large nut on them, so I will need to find some of this damn quick.
So what does it mean, some cash at the workshop to pull and refit new studs (might as well do them all), clean up the engine bay, as its started to get a bit dirty and scruffy. I will also take the opportunity to get the brakes sorted out, and tidy up a few items here and there. Do the alternator conversion, etc etc. Not a disaster but a slight delay in proceedings.
