The new fuel tank is in the car, I sat all day yesterday driving back from keighley wondering how I would make a nice frame to mount the new alloy tank in the boot, and today I go on MSN and Mike says “make it out of wood”, what a splendid idea so 45 minutes later a frame is made some holes in the floor of the car are drilled and the frame is in position.
Ive used some foam to stop the tank rubbing against the frame.
Here is the tank in the frame.
Here is the frame bolted to the floor with 5 8mmm zinc bolts, and the tank mounted.
I still have to finish off the fuel lines and tidy the boot generally, I found an old viva badge so that went on the frame as BLING. I also have to add two straps to secure the tank to the frame, so will need to look out for some nice cheapo ones, cannot spend too much money. Last thing is to get a method worked out on filling the car up, I can see fuel being spilt very easy.
