It appears I was out in the sun for a bit longer than I thought, I had massive headaches last night and out for the count till 10:30am this morning..
But I now feel fine so now I have had a chance to look at the pictures I took, and what a miserable fail that was… I fitted a web-cam to Marvin, and it worked fantastic apart from the fact I forgot I had already switched it on, and managed to switch it off (thinking I was switching it on) just as we were ushered forward onto the strip ready to race. So I now have 4 minutes of driving through the pits, sat in staging and nothing of the race.
But here is Marvin and Lily after our first couple of runs cooling off, yes that’s all Marvin’s blast sat at the side of the bin.
There were a few lovely cars in the pits one was a classic front engined Dragster powered by a Jag engine, I sat behind this in staging and I can say its a lovely sounding engine when running.
One other car stood out a Hillman imp (or as I was corrected by its owner a Stiletto Chamois) powered by a 440ci V8 with twin Turbos, it was running mid 9 seconds on the day and hitting 150 – 160 mph, and it is road legal!!!
That’s it, was so busy helping to fix one car eating burgers watching racing and or chatting didn’t get much else in the way of images. Shows how good it was ! Shakespeare has to go down as one nice friendly place to visit and race, we are always made very welcome both in the pits by owners of 1000hp cars who are always up to see a weedy HA race them and the track itself who love to see underdogs race.
I have but one video of a race, this is between Mike in the white GT racing Edd driving Lily.
