I brushed all the snow off the cars and gave them a wash down and wipe dry, they still look shiny, secondly I had another 6 tyres delivered and had left them outside, now they are full of water, so its taken most of the morning to sit them out in the sun to dry off and get the water out of them.
The big job of today was to collect the wheels from the shot blasters (yet another set) and drop them off at the paint shop, did that by 11am. Second big job was the trip over to check on the GT, that went fine as well. The third job that didn’t go as well as I planned was to mate the head and block of the new engine for Marvin together.
Some time I need to kick myself silly before I attempt to do things, appears I have rebuilt the block with its shiny new parts and new pistons, balanced crank etc, into a 3/8th block (DOHH!) when the head is a 7/16th stud head.
Not to worry mind as I have a refurbished head that’s a 3/8th stud, so that got bolted onto the block. So the obvious question is where did the the original block for the 7/16th head go? NO idea all the blocks here are 3/8th.
I think I now know why Tony had water leaks, the head would be able to move about when getting tightened down, possibly moving the water jacket holes and creating a leak, also with the pin hole in the rear core plug, water would of been used.
NO matter I shall look out for a 1159 Engine with a 7/16th stud pattern. Anyway not a lot left to do today other than paint up the block and head, an get it ready to fit to the HA. Bar missing bits it should be sooner rather than later.
