Slant four for Somerset (part 2)
This morning I dropped off the rest of the moving parts of the slant four engine at the balancers, within a couple of hours I had collected everything and back home happy as anything.
Take a Bedford CF crankshaft thats a bit worn, and get it ground (in this case plus 30 on the mains and plus 20 on the big ends).
Give that ground crankshaft to a man who knows how to balance things.Bill your work is second to none and you deserve the title “Bill the Balancer”.
Then take the Bedford CF conrods and get then balanced (as a set and end to end).
Now the new pistons balanced by cutting the inner track of the skirts, so they all weight exactly the same.
Last take one of the new lightened flywheels (the 7.9kg one) and balance this, put in some new dowel pins and balance the clutch cover (alas I am not sure what clutch cover is going to be used in the car as I don’t know what gearbox is being used. So if this isn’t any good then thats okay).
The work is all done now, bar putting the pistons on the conrods (next week now) and shipping this all south to Dan so he can play engine assembly for himself.
