Skirting the edge leg 5
Today was the best day by far, I suspect the route plan was just the right length, and the roads were far more forgiving on the whole. I started off in Gravesend just south of the Thames, and knew form the off it would be a hassle to cross the Thames, 30 minutes of queues and I was in the Dartford tunnel and across the Thames into Essex. The key for today was to get to Hockley to collect some spares for the cube (for that just in case). After leaving there it was north along the coast (which is rather hard in Essex as ther are a number of rivers which means its lots of Easts and West to get anywhere.
From the Felixstowe port it was a fair amount of narrow roads and small villages next to the sea. Suffolk is much better than Essex in respect to seaside places, far more rural and less Chav like. I stopped in one village for a cuppa and a slice of Cake, Note the car is missing a hubcap (its okay its in the boot) it keeps coming loose.
The last stop of the day was at Dulwich which I think is worth a weekend at, quiet great views and free parking!!
I am 1390 miles downrange and have at least twice this (maybe three times this ) to go, so still all to play for. Tomorrow it North to Spurn Head.
