Skirting the edge Leg 2
Right well today ended as yesterday did, Way later than I had imagined. 11.5 hours behind the wheel and only two real stops. one for a 10 minute walk along a beech the other for poached egg on toast (Lunch). Never has 250 miles seemed so far.
Yes I cut some of the route out in order to leap frog one section. south of Exeter to Exmouth and around the headland towards Torbay. My Sat Nav has been pre loaded with the routes for each day, mainly cut into two or three legs. Todays First leg was 147 miles, from the Lizard East towards Dartmouth, it took nearly 6 hours!!! This is why I chopped an hours worth out of the second stage of the day, else I would of been on the road till 9pm.
Four ferries were used all of which involved waits one of 25 minutes, so I guess that ate a fair chunk of the first legs time. One road closure caused an hours delay as it was not sign posted very well (only in the last mile) and the diversion was nearly 20 miles, and following some lost Camper vans at 15 mph.
So here we go images as that’s what its always about:
Much mileage was covered and around 6pm I arrived dead worn out in Swanage. Day two of the route done, having to rethink my strategy a bit, where ever i get by 4pm on each day, I think i will then take the fastest route to the overnight stop, its the only way to keep up the millage, but maybe the road will improve? Cornwall roads are very different to Dorset ones, so I am guessing as the route heads further East the roads will get easier
