Skirting the edge Leg 15
So that’s it Scotland is done and dusted, by far the hardest drives (bar Cornwall) but with Storm Hector involved one or two days in Scotland were at best Grim. Across the top of Scotland from John O’Groats to Durness was the worst I have ever driven this car in 50mph head winds etc. Anyways less of the negative, it was great to finally tick off one of the three countries. I stand at around 3700 mile son the clock and tomorrow its down the lakes and stop overnight at Blackpool, so we will of left the rural behind and entered the world of donkey rides and chip paper on the beeches.
So that the North (Dunnet head) South (Mull of Gallway) West (Ardnamurchan Lighthouse) and East (Peterhead), so in ters of the points of the compass Scotland is done.
After the lighthouse it was follow the Galloway coast in and out all day long East toward Gretna Green, which was reached around 2:30pm today.
From early afternoon It was the Cumbria coast, which is rather featureless, salt flats for miles then mud flats again for miles into the distance. The villages are strange as well, here is a road sign from one village, that I have no explanation for!
