This morning I managed to strip the engine right down wash all the parts to get most of the oil off and bring it home, all bar the block which I shall collect during the week. the crank is perfect no wear marks no burns, and the bearings are still at STD, I am at a loss to understand why there is no wear as its a 90k mile engine? The bores will need a re-bore as one of the piston rings has broken down at some point in its past and scratched the bore (not to deeply) and that piston has a hole in the side of the piston were it also wore a hole. The head and tops of pistons are very very coked up. Looks to me like a full rebuild it being lined up.
Otherwise that’s it for now on the GT, its all over to Retropower form here on out with the shell, it just for me to start collecting parts, and rebuilding parts ready for its rebuild.
