Well I ought to say more about the car I am going to use for the #SkirtingTheEdge drive. I recently bought a Nissan Cube, It was imported from Japan in 2014 and its a Mini MPV based upon a Nissan Micra. Nissan being Datsun to some means it must be alright!
This model is called the Conran, named after some clothes designer whoever he is? The important bit for me is the comfort of the seats and the driving position. I knew the instant I sat in it, that it was roomy and comfortable. It has drawbacks, its slow and thirsty, but thats not a surprise as its a wee little 1.4 Micra engine hauling what is best described as a giant Malt Loaf! It cuts through the air like a brick (sideways).
This cube is very Brown, with brown and beige leather interior, its got lots of toys to keep me amused on the drive, but I will be adding my own Sat Nav as the one in the car is rather old and doesn’t know about half the things in Nuneaton that have existed for the last 10 years (so its at least that old).
I bought it some weeks back and collected it from Southend, so had some time to drive it home and I was very happy with it (bit of luck there). Over the last few weeks I have been gradually working on all the little niggles and the odd failure of a bulb etc.
The important bit if thats its a step up from the last Japanese car used on a long distance drive, the Mighty Move that drove John O’Groats to Lands End in 2014. With its 850cc of raw nothingness mated to a three speed autobox. So small I could adjust the passenger door mirror from the driver seat without stretching! Dont get me wrong these are good cars but the Cube is more liable to make it than the Move.
