MOT Time
I took RAY for his first and only road trip since 1982. I dropped him off at the Garage for its MOT, the garage is about 2 – 3 miles form my house, apart from a sick clutch the car drove fine.
When I first bought the car it came with a pile of spares chief amongst those was a complete clutch kit, and now I know why! It slips in third and fourth gears. Therefore it will need to be changed sooner rather than later, but let’s just see how the MOT goes first.
Once I get the car back from the MOT I will play around with the cable adjustment and see if that helps things along, I did notice that the bite was right at the top of the pedal, so its might just be adjustment, but it did slip in third on an uphill drag on the way to the garage and fourth along the dual carriageway if I gave it full throttle. So I suspect even if I adjust the pedal bite position to be lower down the clutch will still be slipping.
But it drives fine, the brakes felt fine, the handbrake works and all the electrics were working as they should. I have dumped a load of new fuel in the tank added a filter and one way valve to the fuel system and splashed some Redex in the tank to try and loosen off the sticky valve. So far so good.
