Well yet again I am off to help another Viva owner, this time it back to Leeds with a 1159 90 engine for Kat, she owns my old Green HC estate that alas was in “a state”. However tomorrow we are going to remove the offensive 1256 engine from the car, and fit a shiny 90 engine. Its another one of my specials, reground crank with all new bottom end bearings (Mains, camshaft and big ends) new 40thou pistons, fully rebuild head with new valves, a new oil pump, and most of all its very RED.
The plan is to do a lightning fast out with the old and in with the new short block, then we can spend some time retro fitting things like head, starters, fule pumps, once all the heavy work is done.
I plan to bring back a previously donated 1159cc engine as all it needs a rehone and that should be ready to use on another viva. Its already had its bottom end done with new bearings and the crank polished etc, I think I might also know a good home for that engine as well. Looks like it will going in this nice green HC In Reading
The master plan is get the shed empty in the next month or so, to make room for the GT, time to bring to an end the engine rebuilds that have been my Winter fun, and to start new ventures in welding and restoring my GT.
Anyways early start so better get a beer in me now and some pizza.
