Not done a lot today, other than get some supplies in from the autofactors, sit on line dreaming and in a positive way, I made a start on the HA gearbox.
I bought a NOS HA Gearbox off eBay several months back, the only issue with it was the case was rust inside and the gaskets had rotten out. The Gears are like new however, so it was stripped and the main case shot blasted clean and now it has its first coat of paint. The fun will begin this week in trying to reassemble it.
I have sort of come to a block with the engines, as the assembled units are now blocking up anymore space on the bench.. I need more storage.
This is my friends 1159cc engine, all done bar the pumps and things, its taking up about 1/3rd of the bench.
Here is Marvin’s old 1159 engine that’s also taking up about 1/3rd of the Bench:
I need to redo the timing case cover on that one, I didn’t do a very good job at all, I have some spare rocker covers and timing case covers to all get painted, but first I have to get them shot blasted first. Ive been offered the services of a chap in Sussex for the cost of postage, but I think I will need to get a shot blaster for myself, as I have sub-frames, uprights and loads of other parts that could do with a quick clean before powder coating.
In other news, I think I have found more engines, as If I havent got enough…So far known about are
1x 1057cc; 2 x 1159cc std + 1 x 1256cc in Norwich
2x 1256cc Chevette units in Banbury
6x 1256cc Chevette / HA van units + 10 heads in Durham
3x 1256cc Chevette units in N.I.
So if someone needs an engine ASAP I can point them in many many diff directions….
