Knock up day
Today is the “knock up” day at the NEC for the classic car show, unlike Sunday afternoon which is the “knock down” time (not me making these names up, some bright spark thought it best to call its “knock up” day !!!). Anyway this morning in the wind and rain several 100 cars (most I note on trailers the wimps), arrived at the NEC and started to “knock up” their stands.
Marvin was wiped down and dried and placed on the Viva Owners stand, a dark corner of Hall 2, but at least they are with the rest of the Vauxhall Clan. Its a very low key stand, a few information cards, some bunting and magazines. No carpets, model villages, disco themes, etc some clubs do. The Owners club are mainly doing it simple as they just don’t have the time and or help from many people.
The Vauxhalls are all in Hall 2, which is one of the busier halls as its next to the main entrance, and has the Stage for “Wheeler dealer” and the “Sporting Bears” dream rides area. This means Hall 2, is very noisy and busy all the time. In previous years the club and other Vauxhall clubs have been in Hall 5, which does allow a breather as its not always as busy, after all I do want to relax and chill out.
I did manage to get a wander around this afternoon before I came home, and took some snaps, alas the lights were dim, as its not show time, but I got to see the cars and not fight the crowds. Here is a random selection of what was going on around 2pm this afternoon.
