Well the Datsun 160J is now running ands seems to be fine bar a tune up….
Its now been left to cool down, to see if it Varnishes up again. It needs to cool down completely as thats when the crap in the fuel (we think fuel) is varnishing up and sticking to the valves. As this engine is now running off a separate clean fuel supply, that shouldn’t happen? Only time will tell. ETA for restart about 6pm, at which point its either pack up and remove myself from the problem or celebrate another one solved.
Speaking of solving issues, I have now stripped the mighty MOVE down to a bare block and just needs two engine mount bolts removing, the gearbox mount bolt removing, the two drive shafts dropping off, the gear selector linkage removed and one piece of wiring under the gearbox disconnecting and the whole unit is read to remove. the crane is booked for this weekend, lets just hope the replacement engine is ready in time!
