Look yes I know I said I was not doing any more of these engines, but we all need to keep our fingers in. I collected last night a 1057cc engine from a 1966 Luton Viva HA, that’s in dire need of a recondition. Not that I have any parts in stock any more and not that its complete, but these are all part of the challenge.
First of all I checked through all the parts and the only thing missing was the flywheel, which is not the end of the world.
I made a note of the engine number and its from a 1966 Luton built Saloon (cannot tell you any more than that, unless the original owner knows more?)
The head, has good seats, but one or two of the valve guides will need replacing, the block has some wear on the bores so a re bore and new pistons will be required. The bearings are all duff, but they are STD, which means we don’t have to grind the crank to far.
So lots on the shopping list and its going to take second place to the GT rebuild, but it does give me something to rebuild when I cannot play with the GT. Hopefully it should be done sometime in the next two months pending parts and time.
