GT Update Mid Jan 2018
Okay so last time I spoke about rebuilding the pedal box and the need to refit the steering. It took a lot longer to refit than planned (3 days) but was ultimately fixed by getting a new steering shaft a few MM longer machined up (cheers Retropower spot on as always). Long story short, the steering motor is now 8mm away from the brake cylinders which is exactly 8mm further than it was previously. I am happy with how the steering sits, as its raised up a bit, so big fat old me can get in and out of the car easier and when selecting 5th gear I don’t need to amputate my left leg (as I have long legs that get in the way of things).
A certain someone might notice from the image below, the blackness of the void behind the grille, that someone, promised to “give me shit” if silver showed. So being as I like an easy life its now black.
We have also finished off swapping the front springs, so the car sits at a much better ride height, adjusted the tracking to a basic setting so the car no longer tries to drive at 10 to 2!
So whats left to do major jobs wise? Wiring harness, seat frames, seats, door cards, throttle cables, exhaust and about 1000 other small jobs I have forgotten about.
Car will be leaving the workshop in a week, so got to make the most of the time I have left, before I get it back home into my very narrow garage where working on it will be much harder. The last three months have seen so much work done and I couldn’t of done it without the endless help from Scott, cheers buddy.
