GT Rear axle bolts (last ones)
Another night on the GT, and more jobs off the list, as always the list seems to grow faster than we can get jobs done, so not feeling closer to the end yet.
Tonight I finished off the last two bolts on the rear axle, I can now confidently say it is secure on the car with the right type of bolt and the right length. There were hard to get into place, now all the other bits are on the car like fuel tanks and brake lines. Perseverence and stupidity are the name of the game.
Second job of the evening is the battery leads. they had been cut to length and ends fitted, and all I had to do was add some shrink wrap. which in a cold workshop has the added bonus of warming you up, so that was good. They look factory finish so, I am happy with those.
Next was the fuel and brake lines under the car, they were now too close to the inner upper rear trailing arm bolt (having changed it for the right length bolt) so a new clip was found in the Datsun parts pile and added to the floor to move them out of the path of the said bolt.
Finally tonight a rebuild of the brake tray and fill pots holder to get it all back togther correctly, and a check that the glove box lid will actually close, which it would now (if I had the glove box clips and bars etc, still lost all of those somewhere in the mess). Not overly keen on the whole brake tray idea (which was mine) I will just see how it turns out as time goes on.
