In the post today came the final sample of headlining material form a company called AS TRIM, and for once I have a result. I have been getting samples for about two years now off every company on the planet who would send me a sample. It appears a grey headlining vinyl material is near impossible to obtain unless you want holes in it (which I don’t).
The thickness is perfect for headlining, lots of material the right colour was too thick (seat covering) and would not lend itself to being stitched in tight corners or flexing. This material is the right colour, the right thickness and the pattern is as good as I will get.
Now I just need to get it ordered, remove the old bars form the old headlining and clean them up then pop the whole lot over to a nice machinist.
A good day of searching.
