GT handbrake cables
Another good day in the workshop was had today, I have re routed the handbrake cables and added a couple of clamps to hold the cable better, so they don’t flop onto the rear axle trailing arms or prop-shaft. The adjuster needed adjusting but that can be done another time.
I also re-checked the rear suspension bolts and decided my earlier hunch was right they are too short, so ordered longer ones so I can use good washers and nuts.
I also re-fitted the water pump and pulley and confirmed it now has the pulley correctly aligned.
What I didn’t say earlier is that the rebuilt water pump had two attempts, mainly due to me mixing up the infinite models of water pumps on these engines. It turned out the rebuild kit I had originally obtained has a different impeller and this made it impossible to fit the rebuild kit into the original casting. Having had the engine rebuilt to a totally different spec to the original made cross referencing part numbers almost impossible. In the end a second kit was bought, but all in it was still cheaper than a new pump.
