Its been some considerable time since major work was done on the GT. But I now have a full exhaust system thanks to those good people at Retropower, its a full stainless 2.5 inch single pipe jobbie, which is what is required by the engine to breath correctly.
Note the heat shield at the back, this it to protect the battery which sits just above, I doubt it will get hot, but best to be sure, so it was fitted whilst its up on the ramp. Also the fuel line is going to change between the tank and fuel pump. I need to fit a fuel return line to the tank (when it goes fuel injection), so I not doing it just yet, I might as well do it all in one go once i get the injection kit sorted.
I have now have 6 days in which to polish it correctly, before it goes to the Market Harborough, for the 50th anniversary meet next weekend. The car is obviously not finished, lots still to do, but this meet is worth taking it along to. Its been years but I go at the pace that suits me (and the wallet), and knowing other Viva owners have taken up to 20 years I am still ahead of the game.
Here is the front of the car, the wings have just been polished, so the white stuff is just residual polish, I just hope the rest of the car will come up as well, in the time I have?
Note; I still have not had the pin stripes done. Alas its like passing ships in the night with the painter, he is so good and well respected that he is always booked up, I have only been waiting 5 years, so another one will not matter. Pin stripe
