last night I finally drilled the rear boot lid of the GT to re fit the GT badge. The rear lid of the GT was rotten so a suitable second hand replacement had been found, except it didn’t have holes for the badge.
I can say without doubt drilling and fitting the GT badge on the boot is a right nightmare, not a single straight line on the boot to line it up with, but I used the dealer book, which has measurements like 8.76 inches (so thats 8 3/4 in the real world) 2.4 inches (so thats 2 1/2 then). The top of the boot lid curves down the bottom rolls out the surface it sits on is not vertical. So there we were for ages looking thinking wiggling looking and in the end sod it, it is on the car. Its 0.2mm out in one dimension, but I am not going to say which.
In other news the rear axle breather arrived and is fitted so thats the rear axle finished now. Its an XJS item and wound into the existing breather union on the diff cover.
Last item tonight was the washer bottle for the windshield has its frame mount painted and fittings made to secure it to the car (once it is dry).
Again hours of work and only a couple of items finished. But the goal was to have the back end of the car done before next week. One more session left before next week, just some wires for fuel pump, sender unit in tank, washer bottle pump to lay to front of car, then rear seat to fit finally and its done.
