GT Back on wheels
Today I got the GT back on its wheels for the first time in almost two years. This is so I can get the car home and start the long refit process in my time and at a pace to suit me. I have used an old front subframe and the old rear axle, this is a short term measure so one can move the shell around, nothing else.
Today started off with a hot jet wash of the old subframe I borrowed of a friend, so its free of oil and muck, this was then wheeled into the workshop and lifted into place on the shell.
The rear axle was lifted off the racking where its been in storage and again lifted into place and bolted onto the trailing arms and springs I have fitted earlier. The car now sits on four old wheels and tyres which are only just holding air (and that’s all that matters for now). My thanks for the use of the hoist and some muscle power from the guys at Retropower. Don’t worry this car will be back for you to sprinkle “Retropower magic dust” over it and make it sparkle when I am ready for the next big phase of work.
I now have to get my garage ready and sort out all the parts I have so that the GT can wheel in and out of the garage with ease each time I wish to undertake some of the refit. Hopefully next weekend the car will move into the garage and we can all settle down and relax for a bit.
