I popped down to Retropower for the morning. One to pay the bill for the manifold and other works over the last few months (ouch) and Two to carry on with the rebuild of the car. Today I fitted the rear boot badge, the headlights, the front grill, the wiper assembly and three of the new wheels.
Why only three wheels? Well seems like the so called set of four 6×13 Cosmic’s I bought were actually three wheels with holes for 7/16th studs and one rim with holes for 3/8th studs. I am not very impressed to say the least, but what is done is done, they were brought a few months back now and I very much doubt there is a lot I can do with the seller other than drop him an email and tell them that I am not impressed. Luckily they can be re-drilled to allow 7/16th studs and Retropower will again come to the rescue. But before we do that checks of the offsets etc will take place to assure me nothing else is different about the rims.
Anyway shiny parts:
Wiper motor and all zinc’d assembly rebuild and tested:
Still need to get some new rubbers and better top screws, but the old one will do for now:
Here is how the car looks now, with the front wheels fitted and the grille / headlights all in place. Nice new screws and spire nuts all in either zinc or stainless. This is the original grille off the car and after hours of cleanings its come up near perfect.
As for the manifold well lets just say it was a challenge for Nat, I think he is having a well earned rest over the bank holiday..
