GT replacement front seats
I am how you would say a comfortable sized person and as such the standard seats in a Viva GT offer very little support plus the fact they don’t have headrests which I think is an important feature in a car when push comes to shove. (I am obviously hoping neither will occur). But with that in mind I have been looking for a while on a pair of more modern seats for the GT, but at the same time not too race car, Halford’s drive through specials.
A coupe of days ago I noticed in the local scrap yard, a MG ZR 2002 2 door saloon (AKA Rover 25) with some black leather type seats. Not being one to get my hands dirty anymore I sent my local expert up to the yard who haggled and did his used cars sales man trick and obtained them for me, at a good price (cheers Martin). They are dirty and will need a steam clean, but if you put on your rose coloured sunglasses and think how these might work, I am sure you will agree its got to be a winner.
There is a small nick in the material on the driver side, which will repair, and the bottom of the driver seat base needs attention. Both of these bits of damage are resolvable without busting a gutt.
Now all I need to do is get them over to Retropower, so some seat frames can be made to mount these seats, then I can get the seats off for repair and whilst awaiting those I can get on with the interior.
