Dents what dents?
Unbelievable, I decided it was time to play with the GT, sad as I am about the two dents down the drivers side I thought what the heck lets see if they pop out, two seconds later and one loud bang the boot one popped out!!!
Well with that success it was all tools out off with the drivers door card and try the same trick again, amazing it popped out again! there are still some indentations in the both panels, but TBH I can live with them for a long time before I will feel the need to tackle them.
Before I took the door card off and applied left foot.
One door popped out, you can just see a much smaller dent now:
So after that bit of fun I decided to jack up the car sit it on axle stands and tackle the dried on mud under the drivers side wheel arches, I think I could grow most of a Forrest with the mud that came off, Luckily it was bone dry from 30 years sat underground, and the wheel arches have come up fantastic, I can see a few areas of welding, but those are nothing more than already seen, bar the two bonnet hinges will require attention soon.
Rear arch drivers side, note solid as a rock seat belt mount plate:
Front wheel arch:
On the whole its looking better than I would have imagined, but by no stretch of the imagination if this car a weekends work. the front subframe bushes have corroded away so the car can rock on its bushes, the engine mounts are the same, I suspect anything made of rubber on this car is going to need changing.
All good fun so far.
