Sorry readers, I have not written a lot over the last week or so, its been very busy at work and any spare time I have has , has gone into the car not writing this blog, here is a quick update to keep you all in the loop.
I have changed a few items on the engine to get me running quicker, the old “KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID” hit me and the twin carbs had distracted me from the primary goal of getting the car running, so a quick trip out to collect a carb has resulted in a lot of forward motion.
So yes its simple but should do for the short time needs of the car in order to bed the engine in (assumes I get it running), I have most of the fuel system sorted other than a small clamp i have lost, crossed fingers a few people are looking an may come up trumps, in essence i am missing a clamp that connect the two parts separated in the next picture.
I still need to sort out a hose for the servo, a one way valve in that hose, another one way valve in the fuel line by the fuel pump, a thermostat and oil / water.
In other news, a very nice chap in Somerset who i donated a few gearboxes to has made me a bell housing that should allow me to mount a Type 9 ford 5 speed box to an OHV engine! No major details yet but very soon I shall have all the details of what is needed and how to fit it to a HB or HC, the HA might be a wee bit harder due to tunnel size but this is a good option for everyday usage in my opinion.
