Annteak this and that
You can see as time goes on my tastes and interests tend to move around a bit on this site, but its always on the theme of old stuff. Moving around isn’t true most of my interests have always been there just not always expressed on here as much as I might.
In fact the origins of the Annteak domain name date back to the mid to late 1990’s, when I would spend hours every week sat in auction houses. It’s a play on the word antique. old stuff interests me.
My first incarnation of a website using the domain name was around 2000 when I had a fair collection of Pong machines. I had maybe 100 or so units with many duplicates, so the site was used to show tell and sell the duplicates.
The waybackmachine only shows the front page of that site, I have long since deleted those files.
From 2003 it became a personal blog and around 2005 became almost full time Vauxhall Viva related. At the time I was in rented accommodation and the ability to collect was restricted by space and the need to be flexible over ownership of material goods.
The site has bene stable now for the last 12 years and nested in WordPress. I am happy with that but now I wish to add more content which is the reason for the post.
Now I own my own house and have space, I find many of the things I like in life are open to me should I wish to pursue them. I have for example a small collection of BSA Mopeds (to which I have to admit to have left for too long due to my selfishness over my car, it being the cube and too small to transport the Mopeds about). Lately you may have noticed the computer videos I have been producing. So change always occurs on this site and its not just a place to read about the dilemmas of a certain Viva GT.
Anyways back to my point, in the last few years I have undertaken a lot of road trips around the UK (mainly coastal drives) and these have sparked that travel bug in me. I have been keen to read and watch what others have done, two stand out for me:
Who is walking the entire coast line of the UK and is about to hit Shetland. I couldn’t do what he has done, but from afar its inspiring and its helped me decided some places to visit if only in a car for a few days. Hence a lot of my road trips involve sand!
All the Stations
Two travellers who make interesting video about the UK railway. Not that i want to do this sort of thing, but it got me thinking, I like travelling I like old things, I like collecting, what could I do that involves all three thats different?
I present a new section for this blog called “The K6 Project“
It’s about traveling, finding, photographing and seeing what they are used for now. Its not a non-stop trip, its not a “got to get all of them” (albeit I would like to) its a part of the UK’s culture thats been lost and it interests me as they are annteak’s.
