500 miles for a McDonalds
Today I was mainly driving, in fact other than a 20 minute stop back at the house I have been driving since 6:30am this morning till 4:30pm today, just the 19 hours and 500 odd miles. Why drive that far ? Don’t worry its not to vent my annoyance at yesterdays Smiles.. It was to collect a pre arranged pile of parts.
6:30am I left the house and arrived in Scunthorpe for 8am to collect this little lot, 2 x 12A Mazda Rotary Engines, with everything including the engine Loom’s, gearboxes, prop shafts, yadda yadda. Poor old escort wasn’t happy I can tell you but at a steady 55mph we got home at 12:30 and unloaded for 1:30pm
Not 100% certain on which of the vivas one of these might fall into, but at least the hunt for an engine and box is over.
Straight after a quick shower and change of less oil soaked clothes it was off to Wolverhampton for the most important job in my life. That’s right collecting new rocker studs and nuts for the 1159cc head off Marvin. I now have a full set of 1256cc studs and nuts (and a spare nut) so hopefully drop that off tomorrow and collect say Wednesday. All I then need do is refit it, just need a gasket now…
My thanks to Dave Hill, who came to the rescue, a man of many a parts squirrelled away just in case, and this is a just in case situation. Cheers Dave.
Right so that was 500 miles of road trips and the first thing I had to eat was 4:30pm a nice sauce ridden Quarter pounder and cheese from the local McDonald’s. I nearly lost two fingers I was that hungry! I have a coffee now and its time to kick back, its been 100% non stop since I broke the rocker stud yesterday….
