Went for Marvins first real road trip this morning, only 10 or miles but its all part of the plan to get miles under the bonnet and break the engine in.
Pinks under full throttle so need to adjust the timing again, but I have found a nice little back road that is ideal for bedding an engine in. I am following the plan I talked about in April see here for more details.
So this morning I was running along at 25 mph accelerating to 35 and lifting off until i rolled back down to 25 mph. I did this for a while but noticed it doesn’t half get an engine hot! So i did a few miles of just rolling along at 30 mph to cool off and returned home. The gauge has one of those HOT COLD scales wit the words TEMP in the middle (so you know what the gauge is for) it was settling on the “P” when driving as per “running in mode” it was above the “P” almost into the HOT.
Once its cooled down (and I have had a cup of coffee, sneezed some more, and watched the F1 GP / Football, I will have a tinker.
The plan is to bang in 10 -15 a day all this week after work, and get me towards 100 miles on the clock, then next week do 15- 20 miles an evening to get me to 300 miles on the click just before Billing. At that point I should be okay to try a 40 mile trip to Billing albeit very slowly 45 mph.
