GT Radiator Fitment Xmas 2017
A fair few jobs have been done on the GT, and I have been way to busy to get round to an update until now. The last update was just as Scott departed for Africa on his East African Classic Rally drive in his Datsun 160J. In the weeks that followed I took the time to work on the BSA Bikes of which I have posted a few updates, so its now time to get back to the GT and now that Scott is back from Africa I get some assistance to encourage.
So having done most of the rear of the car, one last job was undertaken, to fit the boot carpet, which in a normal car would of been a 30 second job. But having bolted down the battery box and water bottles plus a fire extinguisher, it all had to come out to fit the carpet, then have all the items bolted back down.
Whilst there I added wires for the fuel sender, water bottle and fuel pumps to the rear loom. A few last items need doing the rear but those are not important in terms of garage time so they can wait.
So our attention on the car moves forward to the radiator, Retropower had already purchased a Sunbeam Lotus alloy radiator which is modern cored and has a nice finish.
Its been fitted to the car after brackets were fabricated from alloy angles (a couple of times, should of been once but I am only human), the images below are with the first poor attempt, but its in position and allows checking for fan clearances.
And here is the Fan fitted to the radiator, offset to one side as room isn’t as generous as one could of been unless I moved the entire drive train backwards an inch and half.
Hoses are still to do, but its in and thats what matters for now.
